Patient Ambassador, Mia

Mia Williams is a 15-year old high school student from Glen Carbon, Illinois who is passionate about singing and acting. Not only has she acted in local and regional productions, but for the past three years she has been featured in many local and national commercials for Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Mia has served as a Patient Ambassador for the St. Louis Shriners Hospital since the age of 4, and since then has spoken to numerous audiences on behalf of the hospital throughout the years, as well appearing in promotional videos and media interviews. Mia was treated for a severe case of infantile idiopathic scoliosis, enduring halo traction to gradually straighten and stretch her spine, and nearly 20 spine surgeries to straighten her spine and lengthen the spinal rods as she grew. In that time, she has grown close to her doctors, nurses and therapists at the hospital, who all treat her like family.

Mia has a bright future as a performer and representative of Shriners Hospitals for Children. Her beautiful singing voice is gaining her national attention, as she was featured singing “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” for our holiday commercials. Mia is also part of the Shriners children’s choir that sings in the new recording of Foreigner’s “I Want To Know What Love Is.”
