Hayden sustained a spinal cord injury playing high school football in Illinois. He was unable to move or breathe on his own. After 100 days in the hospital, which included expert rehabilitation at Shriners Hospitals for Children — Chicago, and prayers and support that poured in from football teams around the country, Hayden met his goal of walking out of the hospital on his discharge day.
